Artist Bio-Judi Bagnato

Judi Bagnato grew up knowing that creativity nourishes the soul and her paintings reflect her admiration for the beauty and harmony inherent in nature. As the artist explains, “I’ve always loved Cezanne’s definition of art as being a “reproduction of nature as seen through the eyes of the soul”-- and that is what I try to portray in my images”.

Finding a quiet balance between expressive organic forms and abstraction, her mixed media paintings reflect the essence of both inner and outer worlds. This is accomplished in part through the glazing of many layers of alternately opaque and translucent layers, combined with wonderful textures of exotic papers, metal leafs, collage elements, scratching and scraping, applying and removing pigment. This textural layering of each painting reveals concealed depth and gives the viewer a sense of discovery, of what lies beneath the surface and of the hidden wisdom within. Her exploration of botanical forms, patterns and abstract designs, often combined with inspirational and inspiring words, create a timeless yet contemporary look. Bagnato maintains a full time studio in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her evocative works of art have been acquired for private, pubic and corporate collections, bringing her growing international acclaim.
